Studio wall today – some work on paper and canvas, some gouache and some oils
«The ’seeing‘ of paintings can be as important in the process – if not more – than the ‚makin‘ of paintings. Either those you are making or others you are just seeing. Often times the first glance provides the foundation one needs to further reflect, categorize, assimilate, and come to understand the piece. And all those who experience artwork, both artist and audience, know that this is an infinitely recurring process, beginning again with each viewing, however fleeting. Some of the purest emotional responses to the work, I guess the raw phenomenological action, occur in that initial viewing.»
